Jake has followed in Henry's footsteps...potty training himself.
He did it. In a day. He is now in underwear full time, except for the occasional nap (which he still wakes up dry...I'm just not ready to take that chance) and night time I put him in diapers.
For the past couple of months, he had been occasionally using the potty and wearing underwear, but nothing consistent. I just wasn't ready to take the plunge if he wasn't really interested.
I have more than enough chaos going on around here than to add cleaning up accidents to the list, so I just wasn't pushing it. I was hoping that he would pull a "Henry" and just wake up one day and decide he was ready to use the potty. And that would be it.
However, with Nate being almost 4 before he was potty trained, I wasn't holding my breath with Jake. I'm used to changing diapers. I've been doing it straight for almost 8 years. doesn't bother me one bit. so I definitely wasn't pushing it.
A couple of weeks ago, however, Jake woke up with a horrible diaper rash. So bad that I refused to put a diaper on him that day and told him he would be wearing underwear that day. He happily agreed and successfully used the potty all day with no accidents!! 2 days later (and only one accident), I officially called him potty trained, and we left for the beach with my family with no intentions of going back.
And since then, he has done great!! I am so proud of Jake, and I think he's pretty proud of himself as well. :)
I love it when potty training is this easy. 2 out of 4 is pretty good!:) Here's hoping Oliver will make it 3!!
