flag football party

Hudson had his birthday flag football party today. Here's a recap...

The invitation, which Hudson helped me cut out the football shapes, put together, and address the envelopes...
The party favors - bubble gum, candy, a few NFL football cards, and a gold medal...

and the chocolate chip cookie cake!

We invited all the 2nd grade boys from Eastwood, and about 12 of the 16 showed up. Here they are heading out to the field...
Brian had them do some warm up exercises before the game...
and then he had them pick numbers (in order to not stack a certain team)...
Somehow it didn't work. Hudson's team had all the all star athletes of the 2nd grade...
and team B had my younger three plus a few other boys...

So not exactly fair, but the boys had fun anyway. Brian switched up the teams for the second game.

So it was quite a game. I had never seen so many competitive, hard core about football, 7 & 8 year old boys. ever. It was quite an experience, and poor Brian was feeling very outnumbered being the only ref out there. We soon realized we should have recruited some other dads to help! :)
