update

No baby.

And I'll spare you an update on the kitchen because there is none. As in nothing has been done all week long. Supposedly they are coming tomorrow with the new sink cabinet and will hopefully finish installing the rest. But I'll save that update for another day...when something actually happens. Someone PLEASE just come over and hammer a nail in my kitchen or something, just so I can feel like something is getting done. :) Oh, and there's plenty of other things that need to get done, like tiling our bathroom or widening our attic opening and adding a ladder, or finishing up the painting in the kitchen. See? Lots of things.

On to happy thoughts...my parents came in town last Thursday (with Lady!! The boys were so excited!) and met us at Hudson's first baseball game of the season. After an intense month of many practices several times a week, he was ready. This is his first year to play (unless you count the t-ball team he and Henry played on last year where there were no rules and no positions), and he's really enjoying it. He's definitely one of the underdogs (1. because he's never played before 2. it's machine pitch 3. the level he's playing is 7-9 year olds). These kids are good!! They are whacking the ball and making amazing plays! It really is incredible. I was a little scared he would be spending most of his time in the dugout, but the coach has been really good about letting all the kids play. Hudson is still trying to get the hang of the machine pitch, but I think it's finally starting to click. He even had his first real hit this past Saturday (which sadly both Brian and I missed since we were in Birmingham).

Friday afternoon Brian and I left for our little 24 hour "baby-moon" in Birmingham. We had talked about doing a little trip together before the baby came, but I had been feeling so badly and then discovering Hudson's crazy baseball schedule, we weren't sure if it would work. Thankfully my parents were able to come in town and watch the boys for us. We did miss Hudson's game on Saturday but felt better knowing he has about 17 more we'll be able to see. :) So while my parents were spoiling the boys with Chuck E. Cheese, Chick fil-A, bowling, Grandma's Attic museum, Jalepenos, movies, parks, card games, and Hudson's 2 1/2 hour baseball game (it seriously lasted that long!), Brian and I enjoyed our time away. And even though it was such a short trip, we really did feel like we were on vacation. A much needed get-away with lots of relaxation, good food (including the Cheesecake Factory!), and shopping. It was so much fun!! We stayed at the Wynfrey Hotel, which is connected to the Galleria, and just enjoyed being together. Just like old times. We decided that we need to do something like this at least twice a year if not more. So refreshing. So thank you to Grandma and Grandpa for making it happen! And thank you to Brian for spoiling me while we were away...so sweet!

Unfortunately, my dad had to leave us early monday morning, but my mom is here for the long haul....living our chaotic life...sleeping in the dining room, making sandwiches on top of the washing machine, sharing one bathroom, washing dishes in the bathtub, entertaining her grandboys (so I can get a little extra rest), and helping me stay afloat with all the laundry. So, so thankful.

So now we're waiting. waiting for the kitchen. waiting for the baby. but life is still moving along with bills to pay, homework to do, baseball practices and games, community groups, bible studies, birthday parties, playgroups, church, etc.

As for baby preparation, unfortunately as I've mentioned before, a lot of our stuff is buried in the 3rd bedroom. I honestly feel like I'm watching that show about hoarders everytime I look in that room. It's so depressing!! I can't find anything!! And all I can do is laugh about our situation right now; otherwise I'll just cry. Thankfully, a friend of mine is letting me borrow her bassinet, and another friend of mine gave me an infant carrier, since ours was too old. I received some baby clothes from my surprise shower, and then the other day my mom and I went to Target to get a few more sleepers, a nursing cover, and a few other baby items to help tie us over until we can get that room unpacked and find the rest of our baby stuff.

All that to say, I think we'll be okay. The baby won't care that our house isn't "ready" or that we don't have a kitchen or that he's wearing the same onesie every other day. Now that I'm convinced of that and okay with the situation, I'm just ready to have him here. And my ribs will be especially thankful when he's out. So bring on baby boy #5!!
