the chaos continues...

still no kitchen.

We had a mishap last week when the cabinets were being put in. We discovered that somehow they mismeasured or didn't measure my beloved farmhouse sink (that we have had since october), and so, therefore, the sink cabinet was too small for my sink. Plus, both the sink and the stove would be shifted too far to the right, which meant they would not be centered under the windows (and also not under the light fixtures that we had already set up).

Frustration.

freaking. out.

I was not about to say goodbye to my sink for a smaller one that fit. But I was also afraid it would delay our kitchen another 2 weeks if I didn't.

Thankfully, once we talked to the contractor, he said he would make us another cabinet to fit our sink, and it would be ready by tuesday (as in tomorrow). (It's the cabinet doors that will take a couple weeks, but I can handle that). We'll see. However, the whole thing delayed the schedule yet again. Surprised?? No.

If there is a chance of anything going wrong, it will happen. over. and over. again.

Holy moly.

I'm trying to stay sane and look past the chaos in literally every room of our house. My poor Mom is here now and is having to camp out in the dining room on a mattress on the floor.

The never ending state of "glorified camping." That's where we are, and I'm afraid we'll never leave. I keep asking Brian if there really was ever a time that we lived in an organized home where there was a place for everything. It's been so long, I can't even remember.

And I've completely given up any hope that we will have a kitchen before the baby comes. I had my 38 week check up today. I'm 2 cm dilated, and my cervix is softening. With my other boys, once I reach this point, it's only a matter of a few days at the most before I go into labor. But I don't want to assume anything...this one could be different, and it could be another 2 weeks. I really hope not. I'm pretty miserable; I can't sleep; my ribs are killing me, and the contractions are getting stronger with a lot more pressure. I am so ready, but at the same time, my house is not.

In addition to an unfinished kitchen and bathroom, as well as the 3rd bedroom that is crammed full of stuff, we have so many projects that need to be completed...including installing ceiling fans in most rooms in the house (it's starting to get hot!), building shelves for the linen closet, putting the finishing touches on bathroom #1, hanging pictures (which means I have to order some hooks and stop being so indecisive about which ones to buy) to use on the picture hanging molding (the only way to hang pictures since we have plaster walls), moving all of Brian's stuff to an office (which is junking up our room and who knows when that will happen) and the list goes on and on. I'm trying not to be overwhelmed by it all.

But then I have to stop and remind myself it's just a house. It's just a kitchen. Our family and friends are struggling with things like sickness, disease, infertility, divorce, death, and I'm complaining about no kitchen and lack of organization in my house?????

Perspective.

I have so, so much to be grateful for. God is so good.
