we just got home from our week long trip to texas last night. the pca's general assembly was in dallas this year, so my parents were so sweet to watch our boys during the days and evenings last week so brian and i could go!!
we left last monday morning for richardson. we were not 2 minutes out of our driveway when henry asked, "are we in texas yet? i'm tired of this!!" fortunately, for the rest of the drive he and hudson did great with only the "occasional" question of being in texas yet. they busied themselves with reading books, leappads, coloring, playing with toys, and watching movies. nate, however, didn't quite enjoy the trip, no matter how much we tried to entertain him. i drove most of the way, so brian could get some seminary done. nate made that a little challenging! our 11 hour trip turned into a 13 hour trip with several bathroom breaks, traffic, and construction.
tuesday through thursday was the general assembly. i really enjoyed it! it was my first time to ever go, and it was great. i loved the seminars (including one amazing class taught by paul tripp), evening worship, and even sitting in on the meetings. it was so much fun reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones! i'm looking forward to going with brian again next year!!
our week in texas was a busy one, which made it go by extremely fast. the boys were not ready at all to go back to alabama...they had so much fun! even this morning, the first thing they asked was when they could go back to texas. i'm still trying to figure out a way to change the geography to make texas(and central florida) and alabama a little closer. i guess that's what makes our trips even sweeter and more special...what a treat it is to visit family...something we will never take for granted!
