mouse trap

Henry and Nate were busy working on something this morning, asking for cheese and mentioning something about mice. I wasn't paying too close attention to what exactly they were doing...I was scrubbing a toilet or something, getting ready for community group tonight. So I gave them their cheese and went back to scrubbing, trying to take advantage of the full 20 minutes I had before Oliver woke up...because that has been the amount of time he has been sleeping for his naps these days. Yep.

Then later today as I was clearing out the guest room (which tends to get very messy very quickly-either with clean laundry piled high on the bed waiting to be folded-which is pretty much every day-or another project is going on, like organizing the laundry room, which means clearing it out and putting it all in the guest room while the organizing is going on. So all that to say, that was my goal this week, and a lot of it did get done (I actually have a desk set up now! hooray!! and a cute bulletin board! yay!), but there's still boxes to go through and a few things to hang and shelves to someday buy (or make) for the stuff in the boxes...

Oh, and Nate and Jake came home this past Sunday. Nate decided the day before that he was ready to go home. He never cried or seemed upset about it; he had just made up his mind. Jake would have been fine to stay longer, but once Nate had made the decision, Jake was okay with the plan. So my poor mom and Karl brought them back that night AND THEN TURNED AROUND AND DROVE BACK TO TEXAS THE VERY SAME NIGHT!!! Insanity, I tell you, but they did it! Brian had to preach both that morning and that evening (in Union Springs), otherwise we would have met them halfway...which was the original plan.

So my plans for productivity never really came to fruition, but I did get to spend a lot of good, quality time with Hudson, Henry, and Oliver. And now I am SO glad to have all my boys home. I sure did miss those two!! Jake has been extra snuggly this week, and Nate has given me a lot more hugs as well. And they sure did miss their brothers. Henry and Nate are back together again looking for bugs and creatures in the backyard. (Henry gave up on me, even though I was willing to look with him, I was not willing to hold a grub or worm, and that wasn't good enough for him). Since they've been home, I've had lots of fun with them as well, especially on the days Hudson and Henry have been in school. So my projects (and laundry) have been late nighters, which isn't ideal but reality for me right now.

Back to the point. As I was cleaning up the guest room, I saw this on the floor below the dresser...

And the reason for this is very strategic. There have been times that Lady will bark over and over again again at that dresser or behind it, pawing, sniffing, and biting at it or the outlet on the wall. We wondered if there was something behind it or under our house or in our walls. I had mentioned a mouse at one point, but now I'm thinking it's that possum that we thought we had gotten rid of. I've been hearing it again in our attic, and we think he is climbing up between the walls.

However, I guess the boys are still holding out hope it might be a mouse. And so they made themselves their own little mousetrap.

Pretty clever and creative!
