33 weeks
I had a doctor's appointment this morning that did not go as usual. I was a little concerned that I was still measuring small (30 cm at 33 weeks), so Dr. Phillips decided to give me an ultrasound just to make sure everything looked good. However, at the ultrasound they discovered my amniotic fluid was low. pretty low. at a 6.1. 8-10 is where it should be; between 6-8 is not what they want to see; and below 6 is not a good thing. It could be a sign that the placenta is not working correctly, therefore the baby may not be receiving the oxygen she needs. It can sometimes result in still birth.
Not what I wanted to hear. After monitoring our baby's heartbeat for a while (making sure increases in her heartbeat were occurring as opposed to drops - which could be a sign of lack of oxygen), he let me go home to bed rest and to drink lots of water. Brian immediately called my mom (who had just left yesterday to go back to Richardson after watching our boys this weekend), and she and my brother will be coming tomorrow to stay indefinitely.
I am now in bed with strict rules not to get up except to go to the bathroom or take a shower. Brian has completely taken over with the boys. We are praying that my level goes up by Thursday when I go back again. If it drops any lower, Dr. Phillips told me to be prepared to go to the hospital for daily monitoring and steroids to help baby's lungs grow. :(
Please pray for protection for our sweet baby girl and that my fluid would increase!
