texas time!

So while we were in Texas this past week, Brian was in San Diego with Caleb Galloway (a friend of ours who was also our church planting intern this summer!) at a church planting conference and enjoying views like this...

Meanwhile, we were having fun bonding with Uncle Karl, playing games like bingo, battleship, and tiddly winks, a trip to the used book store and library, reading books in the big backyard tree, having a big family birthday lunch for Grandma after church at Eddie's-a delicious pizza place, a day at the Dallas Zoo, swimming in the big blowup pool and slip'n'slide in the backyard, dinner at chuck e. cheese...you know, just the usual fun at Grandma and Grandpa's.

I also got to squeeze in a long trip to target (by myself!) one night, dinner and catch up time at La Madeleine's with my sweet friend Christy, some precious time with my college friend Karis and her baby boy Andrew at children's hospital, and a fun visit with my high school friend Alison who happened to be in town as well.

The week just flew by!  Brian flew in Thursday night, and Friday morning we took the 4 big boys swimming at a nearby community pool, while Grandma stayed home with a sleepy Oliver.  Brian also couldn't pass up Cane's Chicken for lunch.  That evening we got away for a get together with my good friend John and his sweet wife Alisha...and also got to meet their precious little Ella! :)

Saturday morning we packed up my parents' Camry, and Brian, Oliver, and I headed back to Alabama, while the big boys (and our van) stayed with Grandma and Grandpa until next weekend.  They were already planning all the fun things they were going to do this week...not missing us at all! :)

So we'll see how this week goes...if I can make it without missing them too much and if Oliver can handle being an only child for a few days. :)
