So i think my love language is eating out.
Preferably dates, but going as a family is nice, too. One less meal that I have to think about, cook, and clean up. And I actually get to eat, too...not constantly getting up. There's just so many reasons, it's a shame we can't do it more often. ;)
Today is Saturday. And Brian has been gone all day with meetings and sermon prep and won't be home until late tonight. Kind of depressing, seeing as all the kids are home with me today. And it's Saturday! Now this is not a usual occurrence, but the majority of his Saturdays have at least some of it devoted to sermon prep. But being gone all day and not getting home until late tonight brings on a little sadness on my part.
But we've been making the most of the day...this morning was spent outside in the backyard and then out front riding bikes until the rain came. And then it got a little rough with some disobedience, bad attitudes, and complaining. Thankfully Brian came to the rescue and took us all to lunch at Cuco's, to make up for the fact that he is gone all day and won't be here to help out at dinner and bed time.
And I felt so loved! That one hour eating Mexican with the whole family; having Brian there to help take boys to the bathroom and help feed Oliver; I could actually eat my meal and not have to get up. The boys got to color and were happy. The fajitas that we all split were delicious. And who can resist chips and salsa and an icy cold Dr. Pepper?
It was just what I needed. My husband knows me well. :) I could happily be home the rest of the day with my boys. and enjoy them. and be okay with Brian not being here with us.
The boys rested quietly in their beds for an hour this afternoon and listened to old "Adventures in Odyssey" tapes my mom had given us, while Oliver took a nap. I mopped the floors, which sadly hadn't been done in a while. The benefit of wood floors...you can hide the mess a little longer. :)
And tonight went smoothly as well, ending in a chunk of pages from These First Four Years. We are nearing the end of our Little House on the Prairie series. The boys have really enjoyed the books, maybe even as much as me. :)
